Two drivers and a female passenger exchanged gunfire after a traffic altercation in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
A road rage incident in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, left one man dead and two others wounded on Sunday afternoon after an altercation between two drivers escalated into a shooting involving a female passenger12.
The confrontation began as a physical altercation between two male drivers2. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a female passenger suspected to be the wife of one of the drivers retrieved a firearm from their vehicle12. The second driver then drew his own firearm, and gunfire was exchanged12.
The shooting claimed the life of the husband, while the other driver sustained minor injuries2. The female passenger was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound2.
Police said they are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder12.
Nevhuhulwi urged the public to exercise caution on the roads. "The public, especially drivers, is urged to always abide by traffic rules and exercise patience while using public roads to avoid road rage situations," she said12.
