The Chinese manufacturer's new bakkie becomes the country's lowest-priced double-cab model, targeting fleet operators and small business owners.
JAC Motors South Africa launched the T8 2.0L CTi Comfort 4x2 double-cab at R349,900, making it the country's lowest-priced double-cab vehicle.12
The manufacturer positioned the vehicle for fleet operators and entrepreneurs, combining utility with standard comfort features.12 The bakkie is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with an electric variable geometry turbocharger, producing 104kW and 320Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm.12
Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the rear-wheel-drive vehicle has a claimed fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres.12 Its 76-litre fuel tank provides a stated range exceeding 1,000 kilometres.12
The T8 is constructed on a ladder frame chassis with 210mm ground clearance and measures 5,325mm in length.12 The double-cab features a 900kg payload capacity in a double-skinned loadbox with four tie-down hooks and a braked towing capacity of 2,000kg.12
Standard equipment includes a honeycomb grille, LED headlamps and daytime running lights, 18-inch steel wheels with 265/60 R18 tyres, and leatherette seats for four to five occupants.12 Interior features comprise a multifunction leather-bound steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, electric windows, and a multi-information display.12 Connectivity options include Bluetooth, a radio and MP3 player with six speakers, and USB and 12V sockets.12
