ANC to present Local Government Action Plan progress report
Party leadership will brief media on service delivery improvements and deploy officials across Johannesburg Metro.
Senior African National Congress officials, including party president Cyril Ramaphosa, are scheduled to hold a media briefing at Luthuli House in Johannesburg on Monday to outline progress on the party's Local Government Action Plan.12
The briefing follows the ANC's Councillor Roll Call held in September last year, which was attended by more than six thousand councillors and mayors.1 Accountability for service delivery failures and restoring public trust ahead of the 2026 local government elections were key issues discussed at that gathering.1
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said the party would detail work completed around the action plan.1 He indicated that party leadership would also engage directly with communities in Johannesburg after the briefing.1
"We will then visit the Metro of Johannesburg in terms of the work that has been done and the challenges that have been faced by the Joburg Metro," Mbalula said.1 He added that all members of the party's Top Seven, National Working Committee, and National Executive Committee would be deployed across Johannesburg Metro on Monday.1
The ANC said the engagements form part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery at the local government level.1
