Stormers face Glasgow Warriors in crucial United Rugby Championship clash
Second-placed Cape Town side seeks to recover from Connacht loss before difficult tour matches.
The Stormers will face table-topping Glasgow Warriors at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday in what assistant coach Dawie Snyman described as a match with the intensity of a Test fixture.12
The Cape Town side, currently second in the United Rugby Championship standings, are seeking to return to winning form after losing to Connacht the previous weekend.12 The match, scheduled for 1:45pm, represents the Stormers' final home game before road fixtures against Ulster and Cardiff.12
"Glasgow are doing really well this season," Snyman said.12 "They're top of the log and we're second, so it's a big clash which will probably decide who can push on and finish at the top."12
Snyman emphasised the match's importance for the team's season objectives. "If we want to give ourselves a proper chance of finishing in the top four, this game is vital," he said.12
The assistant coach identified Glasgow's set-piece and maul as particular strengths. "Glasgow have got a really strong set-piece and a good maul, and from that comes a lot of options," he said.12 "We need to be sharp and understand where opportunities are, but also identify where we can put them under pressure."12
Snyman said the Stormers would not underestimate Glasgow despite the Scottish side's 54-12 loss to the Lions at Ellis Park the previous Saturday.12 "The Lions hit their straps and played a great game, and it's never easy at Ellis Park," he said.12 "Once they get on a roll on it, it's hard to stop their momentum."1
