Suspended police sergeant Fannie Nkosi's bail application resumes in Pretoria

Nkosi faces charges including theft and defeating the ends of justice after raid at his home.

The bail application of suspended police Organised Crime Unit member Fannie Nkosi resumed in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on Monday.¹²³ Nkosi was arrested on 1 April following a raid at his home in Pretoria North, where police conducted a search-and-seizure warrant and found closed-case dockets, among other items.¹³

He faces charges including theft, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of ammunition and explosives.¹ Nkosi has been in custody for more than two weeks.¹

In an affidavit submitted last week, Nkosi stated that he intends to plead not guilty and claims the charges against him are fabricated.¹ The state is opposing his release, arguing that the evidence suggests he was involved in protecting individuals linked to serious and violent crimes.¹

Nkosi was arrested by the SAPS Madlanga Commission Task Team.¹ He previously testified before the Madlanga Commission for eight days, where he spoke about his alleged links to suspected criminal cartel members Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala and Katiso "KT" Molefe.¹
